Learning by Doing
You spend your days at the bench beside a master of the craft—hands busy, senses awake, learning the way makers have always learned. It’s real work in a real place, and the skill you build here comes home with you, into your classroom, your studio, your own practice.
Everything around the craft is part of the learning. Where you stay, what you eat, the language you pick up at the market, a morning walk or a quiet stretch of yoga—all of it deepens what your hands are doing at the bench. This isn’t a race to see everything; it’s time to go deep on a real skill, with unhurried hours to wander, rest, and let a place work its way into you.
You leave with new skills, new work in hand, and a renewed sense of why you do what you do.
Learning Through Craft
Where it’s already happening:
Our first small groups have gathered in Florence, sitting alongside master artisans to learn by hand and connect through the craft. In 2027, the journey continues in Germany with a new faculty-led program—and there’s more on the horizon.
Over the years our work has ranged far beyond any single craft—from leather and footwear to fashion studios, glass and furniture makers, hat making, lighting and automotive design, architecture, language and culinary days by the sea. We open doors most travelers never find: private archives, working ateliers, and the makers behind names you’d know, alongside artists and designers who rarely welcome visitors. People come home with a new skill, a piece made by their own hands, and friendships that last well beyond the trip.

What We Do
Seemore Global was founded by educator Kathleen Grevers, who believes the best learning happens away from the everyday—in a new place, among people who make things by hand. We design these journeys for educators and independent makers, and we care for every part of the trip so you can simply arrive and be present with the work.
Our first program is the Craft the Leather Tuscan Residency—a week in Italy spent at the bench with a master leather craftsman, where arriving is refreshingly simple and the days are yours to make. For those who need it, we’re glad to help with sabbatical letters and funding applications so getting away feels within reach. In 2027, the journey continues with a new faculty-led program in Germany, and we’re always dreaming up what comes next.
Whether you teach, run your own practice, or lead a team, you’ll come home with a new skill in your hands, something you made yourself, and friendships that stay with you.
